True Strays

Bristol blues/grunge band True Strays release their new EP Homeward Bound on May 3 and have recently released their latest record single Homesick Blues and I have got to be honest the record appeals to me as it has something to say and anyone that has seen anything I have written before knows that for me to connect with a record it has to be saying something with a real meaning to it and with Homesick Blues you get that and more.

Homesick Blues is a record which deals with issues affecting millions of people around the country and sums up perfectly the way in which society has in some respects become a judgemental place full of hate/intolerance, zero hours contracts, people struggling to survive the harsh realities of universal credit/minimum hour contracts and all the other rubbish that is going on right now and for me the record does that in a way which the listener will be able to relate as it is not talking down to the audience and lets be honest the issues raised on the record are things most of us can identify with at some point in our lives.

I love this record and will have it on repeat as it not only does it have something important to say, it is a great piece of music and given the fact the band performed at over 20 festivals last year as well as doing live sessions for Sofar Sounds, BBC In The West and a recent support slot for my baby, I believe that they have a bright future ahead of them and I for one look forward to hear more of their intelligent blues/grunge in future.
